Adjusting the time for comments

Posted by LuLuGal | March 29, 2007 .

I have reduced the time frame for the people who comment the most on this blog. It was set to update every 60 days and that is just ridiculous so I have reduced it to a smaller, more realistic time frame so now I can see the numbers changing more often.

Thanks for all the comments guys and gals and feel free to make any suggestions that you think would help this blog. I am looking for a free logo (yes I said FREE) for the top of this blog so…….you can go ahead and design something if you would like….I don’t mind. LOL

Top Commentator…or is it Commentor

Posted by LuLuGal | March 29, 2007 .

I just installed the plugin to let you see the people who comment the most on the blog. It is called the top commentator but I think it should be called top commentor. People are commenting …not commentating.

I love the plugin but the ‘englishness’ of it bothers me. I know, I know……I am grateful for it….but that is one of my pet peeves. I am thinking that commentator sounds like ‘conversate’ which we all KNOW is soooooooooooo wrong….although it is so widely accepted right now.

Right now you can view the top speakers/commentators/commentors in the left sidebar under the archives.

Save money and the tuna diet

Posted by LuLuGal | March 28, 2007 .

Ok, I made that one up. There is no real tuna diet, and even if there was one I would not follow it. We all know how bad it is when there is a diet that is named after a food. All you do is you end up eating that one food for the entire time, effectively depriving your body of the full range of nutrients that it needs.

Save money with online accounts

Posted by LuLuGal | March 28, 2007 .

I use ING, PayPal and Emigrant to save money online because they offer higher interest rates than my traditional bank. Baz talks about opening his HSBC account in the quest for better ways to save money.

I just love my ING account and it would take something very drastic to cause me to close it. I cannot imagine how I would feel if I had closed the account and missed out on the Electric Orange craze. Every day I see more and more people talking about their Electric Orange accounts and I feel all warm and fuzzy inside.

Clever Dude’s carnival of Credit report stories

Posted by LuLuGal | March 28, 2007 .

Yes folks the 4th Carnival of Credit Report Stories is up and running at Clever Dude. The carnival takes on a special twist as this very Clever Dude turns it into his own credit report.

The carnival is compact (some would say small) and contains just the right combination of witty writing with great information.

Thanks to Clever Dude for hosting and doing such a great job…excellent idea!

Thanks again to those who submitted like King of Debt at We?re in Debt, Azmi at Work at Home, Dan at Searchlight Crusade, Mary Beth at BBB Consumer Education and John at OhCash.com. All the articles were great.

I am listed (on the bottom…..but still in there anyway) as one of his favorite reads. Awwww…..blush! He also lists the great John Chow (of the ‘review me’ fame) and a few other blogs that I have never heard of but I am going to visit as soon as I finish writing this.

4 Ways to keep your credit score high…and save some money in the process

Posted by LuLuGal | March 27, 2007 .
  1. Keep your balances low
  2. Pay bills on time
  3. Keep accounts open
  4. Check your credit report

Just by doing these four simple things you can make sure your credit score goes up and stays high. When you have a high credit score you will be able to save money on finance charges because the higher your credit score the lower the rates that lenders will offer you, in general.
