Update on the Surgery

Posted by LuLuGal | February 21, 2008 .

This is NOT a post about how to save money so if you get grossed out easily then you need to skip this post.

The big day is quickly approaching and I guess some of you are wondering what I need surgery for. I was not going to put it out there because I felt so strangely about it, but then I was ‘outed’ by Escape Brooklyn in The Verdict: Surgery so I am letting it all hang out here.

I have fibroids.

Whew! There I said it.

Update on the $1725

Posted by LuLuGal | February 21, 2008 .

I recently wrote about how I need $1725 for medical bills and how crazy it was making me. I finally got confirmation from the hospital on why I needed to get this money to them.

Apparently this is the money that I still have left for my out of pocket expenses before the insurance kicks in. I guess you can tell that I just started working and have no idea what is going on with my insurance right?

$9.95 to pay my Rent Online

Posted by LuLuGal | February 21, 2008 .

I was so very excited to see that my apartment complex was offering rent payments online. I can already pay my rent with my Chase Freedom Visa card and earn points for cash back.

Unlike some other places, my apartment complex does not charge extra for paying via credit card so I was very happy about that.

Then I noticed that they were offering an online payment option. Oh yeah!

ChaseFreedom1This would make it even easier for me because now I could pay my rent from the comfort of my own room.

I will be having Surgery on Tuesday

Posted by LuLuGal | February 19, 2008 .

Hey everyone, I will be having my surgery done on Tuesday, February 26th so please keep me in your thoughts.

I will be out of work for the whole week, hopefully to back on the following Monday.

I have a few posts pre-written for the week so even though I may not be able to go online my blog will be updated regularly during the week.

I will try to see if I can come online a few times during my recovery period, but it won’t be for long since I do not want to strain myself.

New Kid on the Blog: Early Retirement Extreme

Posted by LuLuGal | February 19, 2008 .

I just found a new blog that I have added to my reader. I read a few posts from Early Retirement Extreme and knew that I had to subscribe to this feed.

It is a personal blog about the life and finances of someone who, although having attained a PhD and good paying job, has decided to live like a poor college student still.

He rides his bike or walks to work, keeps his thermostat around 60 (way too cold for me!!!) and eats lentil soup quite frequently.

Credit Cards Club: a review

Posted by LuLuGal | February 18, 2008 .

I am always talking about my credit cards and the different adventures I have had with them since I journeyed into the world of personal finances. I recently got the chance to do an advertisement and review a credit card site called Credit Cards Club, which actually reviews credit cards. Twisted huh?

Cute Icons

The first thing I noticed about the site is the graphics. The site has these cute little icons for each category which really draws the eye in to the category. I think my favorite icon would be the broken piggy bank for credit cards for those with bad credit. The broken piggy bank really suits the category because if you are the point where you have broken the bank you are probably at your wits end and have bad credit too.

What is $1725?

Posted by LuLuGal | February 18, 2008 .

That is the amount I have to come up with to pay the hospital BEFORE they even start my procedure or send the bill to the insurance agency.

What is this money for?

Well this bill is the up front costs for the surgery I am going to have on Tuesday, February 26.

Do I have this money? Or course not!

What am I going to do?

Any ideas?

This does not include the amount they are predicting for AFTER the surgery and the insurance payment.

Meet the Blogger Mondays: Dollar Frugal

Posted by LuLuGal | February 18, 2008 .

Good morning everyone! The first blogger to be highlighted in the Meet the Blogger Mondays series is Brooke from DollarFrugal.

You can see the questions highlighted below and then the responses taken directly from Brooke.

Why did you start blogging?

I started blogging because I wanted to see if I could make some money. So far, it hasn’t been much, but enough to pay for the hosting fees every month.

How long have you been blogging?

I’ve been blogging since October 2007, but I slacked off until I looked on Google one day and saw my page. Then it really clicked with me that I’d better get serious.
