Welcome to How I Save Money and tracking of income and expenses for the month.

Income for the month to date: $764.65

Expenses for the month to date: $2566.00

Net effect: -$1801.35

So far the additional expenses have been $18.19 for groceries, which leaves me with a grand total of $25.34 left in my food budget for the month. I did stock up on a few essentials so I do not expect having to go over my food budget for the month. Next month I am going to try to cut the food budget down by $10 so I can move that $10 over to the gas budget.

Credit Cards with Reward Miles

Posted by LuLuGal | May 19, 2008 .

I am always talking about using my cash back credit cards in order to save money on the purchases I make. If you travel frequently then you might want to take a look at credit card deals with miles in addition to those that pay cash back.

With so many rewards out there it can be difficult to find the right card for you.  I found a site that helps you to choose the best card for your needs. It not only lists the bonus miles you get on sign up but it also tells you the primary airline each card applies to so that you can easily find out if your miles will count for the rewards.

How I dealt with a Google Page Rank drop at How I Save Money

Posted by LuLuGal | May 19, 2008 .

On December 11th, 2007 I got an email from a sponsor saying that they required at least a Google page rank of 2 and because of the rating of my blog I no longer qualified for their services.

This threw me for a little bit because I knew that my blog was ranked at a 3 in the last two weeks. It was previously a 4 and then dropped one point when Google did the round of drops that everyone was talking about.

Go Green and Save Green With Silk

Posted by LuLuGal | May 17, 2008 .

Did you know you can save money and beautify your space by using silk flowers and silk plants ? We all like to see a pretty space and you can greatly achieve a calmer and more serene environment by using plants and flowers in your home or office space.

I recently read some articles on Feng Shui and even decided to get some lucky bamboo to use in my home to keep the energy flowing and to beautify my space. Now the thing with bamboo and the other plants I have growing in my home is that they do not produce flowers. I have tried to grow flowering plants but they always seem to die on me or they just refuse to produce flowers, while the rest of the plant will grow.

How I Save Money visits: How To Be Poor

Posted by LuLuGal | May 15, 2008 .

Welcome to How I Save Money visits ! This will be a regular weekly posting of an article that I thought was interesting in some way. Today we visit How To Be Poor at "A Disgruntled Republican" .

The post talks about things that will ensure that you are poor if you do them. Now while I am not endorsing what the writer wrote I think many of the points are valid. I certainly did not agree with some of the items like ‘Become a Single Mom’ because in some cases that was not a choice that the person made. There are also a few single moms who make more than the salary he quoted and they are quite happy with their situation.
