Another Missed Opportunity…That I Did Not Miss
Welcome to How I Save Money.
Every month the members of the Wealth,
Money & Life Network take on a topic and write as a group. The
topic for this month is Missed Opportunities.
I was speaking to a coworker when she asked if I wanted to make some
extra money. I was excited at the thought of more money but still a bit hesitant, so I asked what she was referring to.
She said there was a training session that I could attend and get paid for going.
How I Save Money At CVS: September 19
Welcome to How I Save Money. I am on a quest to see how much stuff I can get from CVS without spending any extra money out of my pocket.
Last time I got a gift card so I decided that I needed to keep the gift card separate from the ECB, especially since I can now get gift cards from MyPoints. I added a little section in green at the end where I track the gift card amounts separately from the rest of the ECBs. In today’s transaction the gift card was actually the ECBs from the last transaction…but that might be a little bit confusing.
Check Out My CVS Page!
Welcome to How I Save Money.
Most of my regular readers will notice a new CVS Page in the top navigation bar. I have been tracking my purchases at CVS ever since I started and I have accumulated a nice stash of ECBs that I have used to get items for free.
I am not the expert on CVS and coupons BUT I have been working hard on improving my purchase to out of pocket expense ratio. As a result, I have built up a little following of people who read my weekly CVS adventures….especially since they want to make sure I don’t go overboard buying toothpaste (read comment #1).
Tracking My Finances In September: Day 17
Welcome to How I Save Money and tracking of income and expenses for the month.
Income for the month to date: $94.47
Expenses for the month to date: $1762.35
Net effect: -$1667.88
I got a $5.00 gift card to WalMart AGAIN from my insurance benefits. I tell you that if you have Blue Cross Blue Shield insurance you NEED to look up the site to see if you can enroll in the Blue Points program. By just answering a few questions or logging simple things like how many glasses of water you drink you can earn points and then get FREE stuff.
Tracking My Finances In September: Day 16
Welcome to How I Save Money and tracking of income and expenses for the month.
Income for the month to date: $53.07
Expenses for the month to date: $1677.97
Net effect: -$1624.90
This month the figures do not look so bad for the middle of the month. I have gotten a little bit more money from interest from my ING accounts and from some sponsorship for the blog.
This is much needed money as my expenses for the month are much higher since mother has been sick and staying with me.
$249.24 Bill for Anesthesia….from SEVEN Months Ago
Welcome to How I Save Money.
I thought I was done with all the bills from the time I had to stay in the hospital and the time I had surgery. Well apparently the billing company was just holding its breath to see when it could kick me in the finances face one more time.
I got a bill in the mail for Anesthesia for $249.24 for the surgery from February. I really thought I had paid off all the bills and I was now concentrating on paying off the loan I had to take (well the loan someone gave me) to help pay the bills.
Ahead Of Hurricane Ike
Welcome to How I Save Money.
I just wanted to let my readers know that I arrived in Plano safely so we have put some distance between ourselves and Hurricane Ike for now. Mother’s flight is tomorrow morning so we are just watching to see if there will be any changes in the flight.
So far the flight is still on track and the weather looks ok.
Great Credit Cards for Airlines
It is time for me to take someone to the airport this weekend and I was thinking about where I can get the best Airlines Cards so that I could maximize airline miles.
The person who is taking the trip is not a member of any airline miles rewards club, even though she makes about two trips per year. I like to use credit cards to get rewards so I think the best thing for me to do would be to use a credit card that also gave miles as rewards. That way you can use the miles to earn discounts and even free trips!
