Relocating On a Budget (Guest Post)

If you’ve ever moved then you are already aware of how expensive it can be to relocate, especially to another city. Many people are hesitant to move, because there are many costs that catch you by surprise. For anyone on a budget you should be prepared for the
unexpected costs by having a budget that compensates for surprises.

Here are a few tips that can make moving easier on your budget. All you need is careful planning and research.

Boxes can actually be really expensive when you add up all of the costs. Go to your local grocery store and asks a manager if they could spare some of their boxes from unpacking product. The best time to ask would be early close to opening or in the evening closer to closing time. Also, check online or the classifieds in your local newspaper. If you can find someone willing to sell their shipping boxes for a reasonable rate.

One of the costs associated with moving is storing some belongings that will either not fit or are unnecessary in your new home. If you’re concerned about fitting your belongings into a new place you don’t have to get a larger home. With the added expense of a larger home and the costs of energy it takes to heat and cool it’s usually not the direction people want to go. For a smaller living space, consider researching storage facilities that can meet all of your storage needs.

Another cost of moving is the transportation of moving. You can save yourself a lot of money by asking a few friends to help you move who are willing to help or work for free food. If you have to rent vehicles to transport your furniture, search online for deals and coupons for moving trucks or professional movers.

Being prepared for a move will save you time and money. While the prospect of relocation can seem overwhelming the experience doesn’t have to be.

Everyone knows how much I just LOVE free stuff so I was immediately hooked when I noticed that RSS Hugger is now going for FREE.

If you do not know what RSS Hugger is then you are in for a bit of a treat now. RSS Hugger is a site that promotes and sends out your RSS feeds along with all the feeds of other registered sites. This means that users can go to ONE spot and find a listing of all the feeds they would need, arranged by topic.

How is this different from having feeds in your feed reader or in your email? Well, it saves you from having to subscribe to a number of different feeds and then having to organize those feeds by topic.

Thank you Jagular!

Wow I just got a surge in traffic because of a post Jagular wrote. He was talking about Alexa rankings and said he did something to show his links to other sites. I am not sure if that was the direct case but I just checked my Google Analytics and saw that I had over 100 new visitors that came through my site from Jagular.So whatever you did, thanks for the traffic surge.

I went on to Alexa and saw that they were saying that I did not have any incoming links to my site. This makes no sense because Technorati shows all the incoming links. I do not understand Alexa or how to even fix it. I did add in the links from the people in my blogroll to the Alexa ‘suggested links’ so the people on my blogroll should see some traffic increases in the next few days.

While you’re at it folks why not head over to Alexa and claim your blog and suggest some links (from your blogroll) too. It doesn’t hurt and it only helps to strengthen all of our positions on the net.

It just so happens that my two favorite articles were from the ladies…..so I guess the guys need to step it up next time.

I found this great lil blog recently because the writer left a comment here on How I Save Money. This is a good way to get more traffic for your site because when I see a comment I go to the person’s site to see what it is all about….that is unless the comment is negative or cruel in which case I will delete it. But I digress.

I wanted to link to Willster’s Financial Blog when I first read it because even though the blog was fairly young and did not have many posts I really liked what I read. Humble Willster said *all blushing* ‘awwwww you don’t have to do that if you are not comfortable with it. I can wait for a while.’ But then I continued reading and got to like the blog more and more and then I subscribed to his feed and being the link junkie that I am I just HAD TO go and link to Willster today.
