You did the right thing in telling her not to blow money on a "credit repair company" to "clean up" her credit. This is a total scam, as you can only remove incorrectly reported data. The fact that she didn't pay her bills is not an error, so it can't be "cleaned up". I do agree that paying your bills on time is very important and it is better to pay the minimum on time then pay more later to "make up" for it.
