I was at home for a week and just decided to keep wearing my goggles and eye shield the whole time. I am sure that I could have gotten about fine on the second day since most people go back to work and have no problems….but I decided to be overly cautious and wore my stuff for a whole week, taking it off for a few minutes each day.

Hi again, the post-lasik operation is I think more scary than the procedure itself. You really have to be very very careful to fasten the healing process. How long did it take you to completely remove the goggles during the daytime outside and the eye protector during night time when you sleep?

Well I am glad that my experience made you feel better about the surgery. And I am sure Dr. Boothe will be happy to get another client.

Just remember to dress warmly because it is freezing in there.

My experience may not be what you got….remember there are negative side effects for some people too.

Thanks so much for writing down your experience in detail like this! I will be going to Boothe this Friday and this is exactly what I was looking for. I will most likely recount my experience as well for others thinking about doing this. Thanks again and great write-up!

I was very worried about the long term effects too so that is why I did a lot of research before getting mine done. I have actually been researching this surgery back when it was called Radial Keratotomy so that is a LOOOOOONG time.

I just decided that now was the time to do it because I have not seen anything negative that has thrown me off. I have read some horror stories but they all began from the day of the surgery…so far I have not seen anything from anyone years afterward that was scary.

Wow. I’ve always wanted to get Lasik but I’m so scared. My vision is definitely not perfect, and in the long run it would save me money to get my eyes fixed, instead of buying glasses every other year. I just worry about the long term effects of the surgery. It’s nice to hear that it doesn’t hurt, though!

I accidentally sent out Day 12 too early and I have removed it from the posts. Day 6 is coming out next and then Day 12 will be back in circulation….but thanks for noticing.

Just remember that my experience has been HEAVENLY but there have been some people who had bad experiences so you need to read theirs too just to get a balance.

@ Jade…Yes it sure is great to be able to see. I am enjoying every moment of my new ‘second hand’ vision (as my boyfriend calls it).

Wow. What an experience.
None of that for me though, thank you very much.
I would NEVER have Lasik surgery. Absolutely not.

My mother in law had that done, and everything worked out really well for her. But I won’t let them do that to my eyes.

No way.

My vision is already excellent.

Congratulations!! I had my eyes done by LASIK more than 2 years ago and I haven’t regretted it. I’ve been wearing glasses for almost 8 years and my eyes were extremely bad. I couldn’t even go down the stairs of our own home without my glasses on. Now I have perfect vision. It’s the best thing I’ve ever done. Enjoy your new sight!

My experience was a bit different than yours. The whole thing happened at one time. The chair they used to cut the flap was the same chair they did the laser. It took maybe 5 minutes for the whole thing. They gave me large black sunglasses that my grandma had when she was blind to wear outside, but other than that, I didn’t have to wear anything protective to sleep. I was probably more protective than the doctor would’ve recommended. I had the eye drops too, which one had the worst after taste. Yuck! The best feeling was opening my eyes and being able to see things across the room. I was 24 when I did it and I’d been wearing glasses since I was in the 4th grade.
