How to keep your Skin Clear
September 25th, 2007 by LuLuGal
I was at Wally World today and the cashier kept looking up at me while she was scanning my items. This lead me to think that I might have something on my face.
Well it turns out I did.
I had clear skin!
The cashier kept telling me she was sorry she kept staring at me but she was just amazed by my skin. She said it was very clear and she had never seen an adult with such clear skin. She also wished her skin looked like mine.
I just started to blush and stammered out a “Thank you” and let her finish up with my groceries.
If you ever thought about getting different types of skin treatment like wrinkle treatment< or other kinds of treatments like acne treatment, there are many places you can go to get this type of treatment done. Many people these days get laser hair removal and other different skin treatments for themselves.
This got me thinking about the number of people who compliment me on my skin and are always asking me what I do to keep it so clear. The first thing I must say is that I have good skin genes. My mother has clear skin and so does my father. I guess I was just lucky that way.
The second thing is that I drink a lot of water. No make that A LOT of water. I bought a water filter like this one in the refrigerator and I drink water all day long while I am at home. I usually have water with my meals instead of juice or soda just because it is healthier. If I do end up having juice or soda when I eat I will still drink a glass of water afterwards.
I keep a bottle of water by my bedside and drink it all during the night. I guess that also explains why I have to get up to go to the bathroom so often at night…..but that is another story. I bring bottled water to work with me and sip on it all during the day.
One thing I do is that I use Oil of Olay moisturizer on my face EVERY day. I put it on in the morning just before I leave for the day so it has a chance to work on my face as soon as I step out of the door. It has SPF 15 so that is an additional benefit. I started using Oil Of Olay moisturizer when I was very young because I saw my mother using it. Now I am in my twenties and all my friends ask why I use that because they think it is for older women. I just like the smell and feel of it and it is the one thing with SPF that does not make me break out. Then some other people tell me that I do not need the SPF because of my skin color. Oh boy! That one makes me laugh. Everyone needs SPF!!!!!
In order to keep my skin nice and clear I take vitamins. Well that is not the REAL reason I take vitamins. I take vitamins because I have always taken vitamins. My mother is a nurse and always had my brother and me taking vitamins and nutritional supplements. Now I have gotten to the point where I do not feel right if I do not take a Centrum. I buy the big bottle so that I always have it on hand. If I am going to spend the night away from home I try to carry one in a tissue (or take the whole bottle if possible) so that I can have my vitamins. I get a lot of jokes from my friends about this…..but hey it is my health.
I use the Clean and Clear line of products to clean my face. I have sensitive skin so I use only the ones that say for sensitive skin. I use the face wash about three times a week to deep clean my face. The rest of the time I just wash my face with plain water. Yes that’s right, just plain water.
Then I use the astringent on my face to get the last traces of whatever was left behind. I just swipe once over my whole face and I am done.
I really love the moisturizer here because it honestly works so well. I will put it on at night if I see a pimple and when I get up the next morning the pimple is gone! This also leaves my entire face feeling really soft and smooth when I rinse it off. I use the Clean and Clear products at night only, just before I go to bed.
I also use Biore nose strips because I get those little whiteheads on my nose. I use these maybe twice a week to clear out my pores so that I do not end up with blackheads on my nose. These little strips are such a blessing!!!!!
The last thing I do to keep my skin clear is I do not wear makeup. I firmly believe that makeup clogs up your pores and just makes your skin bad. I wear lip gloss and that is it. One of the benefits of wearing lip gloss and lipstick is that your lips get protection from the sun so it will benefit me in the long run when I am much older. I also do not touch my face unless it is necessary. That means I touch my face to wash it etc. but I do not just keep playing with my face because you know how many germs live on your hands.
So there you have it folks. This is what I do to keep my skin clear and blemish free.
I drink a lot of water
I use Clean and Clear
I use Oil of Olay
I use Biore nose strips
I take vitamins
I do not wear makeup
What do YOU do to keep your skin healthy and looking nice?

I take Omega Oils, wash it with olive oil soap and a fine facial brush every morning, and pat it with apple cider vinegar fresh out of the shower.
And I don’t use foundation
Clear skin!

@ Havi:
I use Clean and Clear stuff for my skin. The one thing I found with the people I know who use Proactive is that once they stop using it for more than two days their skin went back to being bad. Ouch!

Wow @ no makeup.
I’ve tried, but I just can’t do it. I’m Italian, and have the token dark circles under my eyes. Combined with olive skin, the no-makeup effect is pretty hideous.
I have decided to try getting into mineral makeup though. Right now I only use creme (not liquid) foundation to cover the circles and the occasional pimple/scar.
One of my all time favorite products is St. Ives peach scrub. Of course, I buy the medicated one, but oh my does it make my skin soft! I know, it’s not good to scrub too much, but when my skin gets that “thick” feeling, I use a little of this stuff in the shower and I’m good to go.
Why can’t they come up with something that really works on the under eye area though? I’m 31 and starting to see wrinkles there too… sucks getting old!

@ Lara:
I like the St. Ive’s apricot scrub too. I used it a few times and it feels very good.

Great advice BUT not good for oily . Everyone is different people break out due to hormones or stress. Sometimes from the dirt on your hand that makes contact with your face. I use Vegan make up NO foundation…..ever!
