The Budget Fashionista…a book review
I recently received a copy of the Budget Fashionista’s book to review. Now I must admit that I simply asked for the book because I desperately wanted something to read. I have never been a girly girl so I was not into the clothes, shoes, makeup and purses that ‘real women’ seem to love so much.
I got the book and I was all ready to be unimpressed by what I read…the cover is pink after all!!! I opened the book up and I was immediately hooked from the first page. The book did not try to convert me from being a tomboy into a frilly pink poodle.
The book gave simple, money saving tips when it came to taking the best care of the clothing you already have. The Budget Fashionista does advocate buying a few staple items that should make your wardrobe stylish, yet affordable so I was quite interested in those tips.
She says that one of the first things you should do is to take an inventory of your closet. You need to go through each item and weed out those you have not worn in a long time. I have clothes that I have never worn not worn a lengthy period but which I just kept around because I did not want to get rid of something that I spent money on.
I also had clothes lying around that I used to wear but since I put on some weight I do not look too hot in them any more. I know that I either need to do something about getting myself to fit into those clothes once more or get rid of the clothes.
One of the things that I liked the most about the book is that it gave tips on how to spot fake designer purses. I am not into purses but I do know people who would not hesitate to spend hundreds of dollars on purses. The book gave some things to look out for when you see an expensive purse so that you can tell if it really is a Birkin…..or whatever other name brand you choose.
The book is very easy to read and I recommend that any budding fashionista get a copy of it (which you can do by clicking on the book above) and follow the tips so that you can continue being fabulous.
I will certainly adopt some of the tips on how to care for clothes and find bargains in order to save money and make myself look better on my budget.
