The Tuna Diet here at How I Save Money
I just got a little site update here thanks to the techs from WebDev. There is now a section in the upper left that shows the most popular posts from How I Save Money!!!!!
Go take a look….I’ll wait.
La, la, la,la…..oh you’re back, good.
Now one thing that I thought was very interesting was how one of the most popular posts of all time was this one about my Tuna Diet. I did a search and found that tuna diet was a set of the keywords that has been driving traffic to my site.
So with the popularity of the post….and with people asking for the recipe I just had to refer to the post and put this out there.
My recipe is very simple so I hope that you are not disappointed.
I open one small can of tuna then I add a squirt of mustard (the plain kind) and a teaspoon of mayonnaise. Then I put in a couple of shakes of onion powder and put the mixture in the food processor and give it a spin. The mixture lasts for a couple of days and the extra goes in a plastic container in the fridge. It costs me just a few cents per serving since the canned tuna is so cheap and the mustard and mayo are things that I buy on a regular basis so I am not having to go get them just to make the tuna paste.
I do not measure things….I just add until it ‘looks right’. I also love hot sauce so I will add some in there. That’s it folks. I just put in a little mustard and mayo and then if if looks too dry then I add a little more. It is all trial and error with me…..but it tastes sooooooooooooooooo good once you get it right.

I never thought of putting mustard with the mayo for the tuna thing. Also, never put it in the blender. I’ll try this and see if I like it better that way.
Thanks for the tips.

Just make a little bit and that way if you don’t like it then you would not have wasted your food. I am sure you will like it. I am a VERY picky eater but I just LOVE this.
Hmm lol great idea actually — do you ever get hungry though i mean — who can live on a can of tuna a week? hehe
Juan you are so silly. I am not eating ONLY tuna all day and all night. That is just my sandwiches…I do cook real food during the week.
One million dollars says you are skinny and have nice skin because you eat tuna all week, all day and all night. ^_^
lol.
Tuna is a great choice for the frugal and health minded. I also like to stock up on PBJ’s and Eggs, but that is the life of a college student.
Hey Tyler…I am still living the college student mentality because I am doing my internship right now. I need to keep that mentality because I want to get out of debt.
Besides I love tuna too so it works out great.
Hi lulugal,
I tried the “blender”option and you’re right. It tastes really good.
