Tracking My Finances In April: Day 30

May 1st, 2008 by LuLuGal

Welcome to my daily tracking of income and expenses for the month at How I Save Money.

Penny.GIF

Income for the month to date: $salary + miscellaneous

Expenses for the month to date: $went over budget on gas and food

Net effect: $290.57

I left the income amount blank because I did not want to reveal my salary. I did have a few more expenses on the last day that took the income amount over what I last posted but the net effect this month was positive .

I had almost $300 in positive cash flow this April so that money will go as a snowflake payment to one of the remaining credit cards with a balance. This is after I had deducted all expenses, including the small amount that goes to my Never Go Back to Fresno Emergency Fund which I treat as one of the expenses for the month.

My gas tank was at half full so I ended up spending $22.01 to fill up today. I could have waited to fill up in May and not have the gas budget for April be so overrun but I just wanted to get it out of the way because gas prices are not coming down any time soon!!!!

I will see you guys and gals later as I continue my journey to save money and become debt free!!!!

Nice work in April. It is interesting to see how you are doing. I work with a similar budget and always seem to go over a little bit. So I like hearing about all the things you do. I will be reading to see how it goes for you in May. Good luck!

    @ Lindsay:
Thanks for dropping by. I was really surprised to see that even though I went over some areas I still had enough flex built in that I came in under my total budget because I saved money in some other areas.
