How I got a $500 slap in the face

I just got another bill from the hospital and it is $500!!!!! This is part two of the bill from my little stay at the hospital. While this amount is about one third of the total bill it is still a big amount to me.
I have to look for that money to pay the hospital so there goes my savings for the next couple of months.

So how much did you pay in premiums during the year to save two thirds of this hospital bill? When I was on an HMO, I paid about $3000 a year in premiums. Could you have done better with a simple catastrophic insurance policy?
I am not at home right now and do not have the information on the paystubs. I have only been working at this job since August and so paid 4 months of premiums . I will let you know how much that is when I get back from holidays.
I do not understand this insurance thing. I just picked plan number 2. This is the first job where I have had to pick a plan….since I have been in college ‘all my life’.
I also did not plan on getting sick…so I had no clue what was going on.
