Monthly update: August 2007
I know this is a few days late but I did not have regular internet access. Here is the latest on my finances. August was a very bad month for me with regards to cash flow because that was all that my money did. It just flowed out and it seemed like nothing was going to come in.
There is a light at the end of the tunnel, however, because I did get a new job (thank God!!!) and so I will be getting some income at the end of the month.
I had a total income of just over $500 for the month and my expenses were a whopping total of $2900 (plus or minus a few dollars) so you can see that was a very bad month for me.
I ended up spending a total of $201.83 for food for the month and a good bit of that was for pizza. I had to get pizza and drinks to feed the people who helped me to move so that they would not revolt for having to carry my stuff up and down the stairs each time.
My rent expense is showing a figure that is triple what I usually pay because the rent at the new place is much higher and I did have to put down a deposit. I also paid for the month of September at the end of August so that figure is included in the August budgeted amounts.
I ended up with $49.41 in interest on the credit cards which, although high, is still lower than some other months. This is because I was able to keep the purchases on the cards very low and limited to just the things I really needed at the time. I kept making the payments on the cards and even through the use of the debt snowball I was paying more than the minimum on the cards that were not being targeted.
My target card for the upcoming month is the Chase Visa card because that is the one where I am currently earning the best cash back value per purchase. My plan is to pay off the balance on this card with the first paycheck and then to allocate the money for any future purchases so that I can get the cash back without getting any interest charges on the card.
I got a few cents from ING and PayPal in the form of interest for the month but since the amounts are so small I will not put the exact figures here. If you are interested in getting an account with ING remember that I still have invites where you can get a bonus $25 for opening up the account. Just email me or hit me up in the comments and I will send you the link.

Oh Shawn, Shawn *Lulu shakes head*. The only reason my numbers look horrible is because (drumroll please) I had to move.
