Opening a new Checking Account
I have to open a new checking account this week. Well I don’t HAVE to but I need to so that I can avoid ATM fees and have a place where I can go to get cash and deposit checks when someone writes me a check.
Now I have a checking account (the old fashioned kind) with Wells Fargo because I thought that you could find a Wells Fargo everywhere. Well I just learned the hard way that way out here in the area I live in there is no Wells Fargo *Save Money shakes head in sadness*. I never thought I would find somewhere that I could not just run into Wellsy and do what I had to do and get out.
I found a place, actually the bank in a WalMart (I love WalMart!!!!!) so now I have another reason to go there frequently. It claims to have an absolutely free checking account so I am going to open one there just to make life a little easier on me in the future. I will let you know how it goes.

Hey becarefule, I’m sure the convenience of having a bank right inside Wal-Mart was some genious way to get you to spend more of your hard earned money! I would personally choose a bank that does not make it as convenient or tempting to get me to SPEND MY MONEY THAT EASILY! THINK ABOUT IT?? YOUR THERE, YOU HAVE EASY ACCESS TO YOU MONEY AND WAL-MART WILL BE MORE THAT HAPPY TO GET YOU TO BUY THEIR CRAP LEAVING YOU WITH NOTHING IN SAVINGS OR EMERGENCY FUNDS. My best to you, John

I would not use that account for shopping at WalMart. I use my Electric Orange account to pay bills and I only write checks from my Wells Fargo account in the rare cases I need to use a paper check. This account is just so that I can get quarters to do laundry and I will have a place that is close by and convenient.
Opening new checking accounts gives me a headache! I need to find a new local bank…and I just can’t decide. I might just go with KeyBank to get a free gift!
It was easy to open this account but now I am not so sure I want it. I am thinking of going with Chase.
