Tracking My Finances In 2009: 13 October
Welcome to tracking of income and expenses for the month. Please note that I get paid on the last day of the month so my cash flow net effect will usually be negative until the last day of the month.
This does not mean that I am adding to my debt, it just means that the money coming in is less than the money going out because bills are due starting on the first but I don’t get paid until the last day.
Why I Am Keeping My Budget The Same After A Salary Increase
As you all know I am a teacher and sadly I do not get paid a lot. I do get a small increase in salary every year but the amount is so small as to be insignificant on a monthly basis.
With the new school year we got a slight increase (even after increasing contributions to my Flexible Savings Account) that now gives me $70 more per month.
I have decided to keep my budget the same as before the increase and to pretend that the $70 does not exist. I am doing this for three main reasons:
1. I can treat the ‘extra’ money like a bonus
2. It will add to the buffer in my ING Electric Orange checking account
3. I am not experiencing lifestyle inflation.

How I Save Money At CVS: 4 October 2009
Today I paid $4.40 out of pocket for $12.90 worth of items. I love the Soy Joy bars as they are a great little snack and I was waiting for them to go on sale again.
The bars did not earn any extra bucks but the ones I had were mostly about to expire and I needed to use them up before that happened. I am also trying to go through the rest of the year without spending any more out of pocket at CVS because I need the money to put towards a snowflake payment to the LASIK card.
Discontinued: What Bodycolody Taught Me About Finances
I recently started using Bodycology Vanilla Buttercream Body Mist as my daily fragrance. I love all things vanilla scented and I have (a little bit of) an obsession with body splashes . So I found this divine smelling body mist at WallyWorld (oh yeah baby) and I wear it every day.
Then I noticed that the bottle was getting low so I wanted to stock up on another bottle before it ran out. I went back to Walmart but they did not have any on the shelves. I decided to look online but could not find any at the Walmart website either.
Responsible Borrowing and Short-Term Cash Advances
Cash advances—otherwise known as payday loans, check advance loans, fast cash loans and no-fax loans—are a controversial form of borrowing. However, for consumers caught with an emergency expense between paychecks, this lending option offers financial breathing room until payday arrives.
How Do Cash Advances Work?
A short-term cash advance ranges from $50 to $1500, and is available to most consumers, no matter what their credit score. There’s no credit check, and the application process can be completed online or over the phone. This type of loan is meant to be a short-term solution to financial emergencies, and should only be taken if the borrower knows he can pay it back within two weeks to a month.
