Monthly Financial Update: March 2010
Whew it is time to look at one full month of finances and see how I came out in the end. I was in the black again for the month even after making a few larger than normal debt snowflake payments and a bit of overspending. I came out at $139.53 in the black after getting my paycheck and buying some more groceries in a last minute rush late in the evening.
Happy April Fool’s Day 2010
Have a safe and funny April Fool’s Day. I already got pranked with Problogger’s announcement that he was being acquired by Google so I think that is it for me this year.
I work with a bunch of playful people but I hope they don’t take it too far.
Credit Card Debt Free!!! (sort of)
I am officially credit card debt free as I sent off a humongous payment to the very last card that I carried a balance on. It feels great to be free of that debt and the only thing I have left to worry about is the car loan.
How Can You Get A Really Cheap Auto Insurance Policy? (Guest Post)
When you’re thinking about buying a really cheap auto insurance policy for your vehicle, you should take into account a number of factors. An auto insurance policy with a low premium rate doesn’t prove to be the cheapest policy in the long run. It’s also important that you get sufficient coverage from that policy. Tracking My Finances In 2010: March Week 4
I have decided to post my weekly spending for the previous week on Fridays so you know how my cash has been flowing for the week. Please note that I get paid on the last day of the month so my cash flow net effect will usually be negative until the last day of the month.
This does not mean that I am adding to my debt, it just means that the money coming in is less than the money going out because bills are due starting on the first but I don’t get paid until the last day.
I Lost A Credit Card
I did not actually misplace the card..it was closed due to inactivity. I received a letter in the mail telling me that one of the credit cards that I own was closed because I had not used it in a long time. It was not one of my older cards, nor was it a card with a high limit so I am not too upset at losing it. I had been thinking about reducing the number of cards that I have and just keeping the three oldest ones which also have the highest limits and best rewards.
I Am A Financial Slacker
I still have not filed my taxes as yet…even though I began the process weeks ago.
No clue why I have been procrastinating but I need to get that done by the end of the week.
I think I am getting a (small) refund too…so that money can be a snowflake towards debt or it could be earning interest in my ING account but here I am wasting time.
The Downsides of Debt Settlement (Guest Post)
To a person that is heavily in debt, debt settlement sounds like a dream come true. Debt settlement companies can negotiate a reduced one time payment of between 30% – 70% on your debt and your credit report reads that your debts are completely settled (although, your late payments will remain on the report). The thought of paying half of your actually owe would get any debtor salivating. As amazing as this all sounds, there are some problems with debt settlement.
