There is one key secret to comparing insurance prices online – ensure that everything is the same. Even if you are buying the same face amount of insurance, you want to to be sure that all of the terms match between policies. Luckily, the Internet makes it easier than ever to compare policies.

Monthly Financial Check Up: June 2011
Well there will be no Tracking My Finances post this since it is the first of the month and the only thing paid has been the rent and associated costs. What you get instead is the Monthly Financial Checkup for June and I am pleased to say that I came out in the black by $206.13!!!!!!
I am glad that I came out in the black again this month because I had a deficit to make up for in April. With this overage in the total yearly budget I now only have to make up a shortfall of $551.15 to get back on track with the budget for the year.
Ally Is NOT Your Friend When It Comes To Closing A CD
I started using Ally bank recently because they offered higher interest rates on CDs than ING did. Now my experience in the past was that you log in to the account, click on the cd and click close or transfer and you are done in less than a minute.
Well at least that was the ING way. Not so much with Ally. I poked around a bit but could not find any way to close the account. I got on to the live chat only to be told that the system was down but should be back up in a couple of hours. I then asked the rep what I needed to do to close the CD and was told that I had to go through customer service in order for them to close the CD for me.
The Essential Credit Repair Handbook (Book Review)
I received this book called The Essential Credit Repair Handbook and I thought it would be a good book to share with you all. The thing I like the most about the book is that it is very readable but it does not talk down to the reader. I got this book just as I was getting some questions from a reader about how to repair her credit and get out of debt so this will be a good review of some of the tips that I gave the reader.
Tracking My Finances In 2011: June Week 4
I have decided to post my weekly spending for the previous week on Fridays so you know how my cash has been flowing for the week. Please note that I get paid on the last day of the month so my cash flow net effect will usually be negative until the last day of the month.
This does not mean that I am adding to my debt, it just means that the money coming in is less than the money going out because bills are due starting on the first but I don’t get paid until the last day.
Earn 2% Cash Back On All Discover Purchases During Your Birth Month
Discover just sent me an email detailing the birth month promotion that they are running. I am not sure how long this has been going on but it is the first time I am seeing it so I signed up immediately. They will be offering 2% on all purchases up to $500 during the month of your birth…which is not a bad deal.
I already use Discover for most purchases and had planned on using it for gas since this is the extra cash back month for gas as well. I will just have to make a better effort to use the Discover card during my birth month to get all the rewards that I possibly can.
Changes To PineCone Payments
I just received my new PineCone debit card in the mail as PineCone has decided to change the way they pay us for taking the surveys. In the past you would have a paper check mailed out to you every time you completed a survey. I would then collect a few of these because the amount was small and then bundle them to mail out as a deposit.
PineCone has decided to send participants a debit card and they will load your payment on to the card every time you take a survey. With this new system I see a few pros:
