I have decided to post my weekly spending for the previous week on Fridays so you know how my cash has been flowing for the week. Please note that I get paid on the last day of the month so my cash flow net effect will usually be negative until the last day of the month.
This does not mean that I am adding to my debt, it just means that the money coming in is less than the money going out because bills are due starting on the first but I don’t get paid until the last day.
Changed Up My Investing Strategy At Sharebuilder
I was recently approached by a friend for a little advice on investing in stocks. I was not much help because I do not follow the stock market and really only took the lazy way out and use Sharebuilder to get my stocks.
I gave a few tips to start off but then that conversation got me thinking about my own investments and what I was really doing. When I first started off with Sharebuilder I was buying one stock and the fee per trade was $4. I increased over time to three stocks at the same fee per trade and things seemed to be going well.

Remember to log in to your Discover card account to sign up for the extra 5% cash back. From July through September you can earn 5% on purchases on the following categories:
-Gas
-Hotels
-Movies
-Theme parks
All other purchases earn the normal rate so this is a great chance to earn some more cash back for the things you would normally purchase. Remember that you can only earn up to $300 back on your purchases but with the price of gas so high that should not be a problem.

Some Of The Fun Things I Would Like To Do This Summer
This year I will have most of the summer free because I have no courses due. I have taken all of the teacher training that I can for the year as well so apart from looking for a new job I really don’t have anything to do.
I have not taken a vacation in a long while and I have a bunch of money in the Splurge Fund so I have made a list of things that I would like to do this summer:
-Go to a water park
-Color and cut my hair professionally (hey my birthday is in the middle of summer)
-Houston carnival
-Go to Six Flags
-Go to Vegas
-Miami carnival
-Visit friends in New York

Monthly Financial Check Up: May 2011
May was a welcome relief to my cash flow after the madness of my April Financial Checkup and I was able to come out $605.24 in the black!!!! I still have a lot to do to make up for the massive shortfall last month but I am sure that I will be able to make it up by spending less over the summer, even with taking some time off to do fun things.

I am sorry that I did not have a regular post lined up for today. I was sick again this weekend and I completely lost track of the fact that I needed something.
In any case today is a holiday for most people but I have to work.
