Save money and the tuna diet

Posted by LuLuGal | March 28, 2007.

Ok, I made that one up. There is no real tuna diet, and even if there was one I would not follow it. We all know how bad it is when there is a diet that is named after a food. All you do is you end up eating that one food for the entire time, effectively depriving your body of the full range of nutrients that it needs.

Save money with online accounts

Posted by LuLuGal | March 28, 2007.

I use ING, PayPal and Emigrant to save money online because they offer higher interest rates than my traditional bank. Baz talks about opening his HSBC account in the quest for better ways to save money.

I just love my ING account and it would take something very drastic to cause me to close it. I cannot imagine how I would feel if I had closed the account and missed out on the Electric Orange craze. Every day I see more and more people talking about their Electric Orange accounts and I feel all warm and fuzzy inside.

Thanks to Clever Dude for hosting and doing such a great job…excellent idea!

Thanks again to those who submitted like King of Debt at We?re in Debt, Azmi at Work at Home, Dan at Searchlight Crusade, Mary Beth at BBB Consumer Education and John at OhCash.com. All the articles were great.

4 Ways to keep your credit score high…and save some money in the process

Posted by LuLuGal | March 27, 2007.
  1. Keep your balances low
  2. Pay bills on time
  3. Keep accounts open
  4. Check your credit report

Just by doing these four simple things you can make sure your credit score goes up and stays high. When you have a high credit score you will be able to save money on finance charges because the higher your credit score the lower the rates that lenders will offer you, in general.

Carnival of Personal Finance #93

Posted by LuLuGal | March 26, 2007.

Another Carnival of Personal Finance is up and it is number 93…we are creeping closer and closer to #100. Save Money is featured there with the article on Homemade Air Fresheners so you can go over there to check it out. There were some other really good reads at the carnival like this one on Debt to Credit ratios and how they affect your credit reports by Your credit score secrets. On a side note I wish this one could be submitted to the carnival of credit report stories being held on March 28th.

Latest credit report

Posted by LuLuGal | March 26, 2007.

I just got another credit report from a credit monitoring service. This service comes free for the first 30 days when I go through my HSBC credit card and then it runs $9.95 a month. I am going to cancel at the end of the trial period because by then it will be time to get my second free credit report from www.annualcreditreport.com.

The credit monitoring service gives you updates on what happens to your credit score if anything happens to the credit report while the service is active. I think this is very helpful because it gives you an idea of how much your score will go up or down depending on different events.
