How I Save Money At CVS: 18 October 2010
On this trip I paid $0.00 out of pocket for $7.98 worth of items. I am down to a very small balance on the gift card and I have decided that when that runs out I will not be going to CVS for the rest of the year.
I really made myself mad when I spent actual money at CVS and broke my streak of trying to go a whole year with only one gift card, ECBs and coupons. I will be restarting my year fresh with a new gift card and this time I will really go one whole year without spending anything out of pocket.
Crazy Financial Advice: Just Put It On Your Credit Card
You guys know how much I love my cash back credit cards now that I no longer carry credit card debt. Many PF Bloggers say that credit cards are evil and we should only use cash but I use my cards responsibly so that system works for me.
Recently I was talking to someone about a purchase we were thinking about and said that I would have to wait because I did not have the money for that right now. She must have thought I meant I did not have my checkbook or cash because she looked at me and said “Oh just put it on your credit card.”
Monthly Financial Update: September 2010
I ended up in the black again in September and it felt good to see that positive $597.71 on my spreadsheet. This was partly due to some advertising on the blog as well as redeeming cash back points and using them for daily purchases. I am showing that I bought the newspaper but only redeemed $1 in coupons for the whole month. This does not look right to me as I am sure that I used more coupons than that, but in any case I have spent $26 on buying coupons and redeemed $83.05 giving me a gain of $53.05 on my couponing adventures.
Tracking My Finances In 2010: October Week 3
I have decided to post my weekly spending for the previous week on Fridays so you know how my cash has been flowing for the week. Please note that I get paid on the last day of the month so my cash flow net effect will usually be negative until the last day of the month.
This does not mean that I am adding to my debt, it just means that the money coming in is less than the money going out because bills are due starting on the first but I don’t get paid until the last day.
How I Save Money At CVS: 13 October 2010
On this trip I paid $0.00 out of pocket for $10.99 worth of items. I have given away or used most of my stash of body wash and I was down to the last bottle so I thought this was a good time to stock up again. I am also on my second to last toothpaste because I donated or used all the rest.
I forgot my reusable bag (and the cashier asked me about it because she remembers me) but I was able to get a $1 ECB from the machine at the front so it was still a good haul for the day.
$90.08 Richer
The changes in my insurance with moving to the High Deductible Plan caused my premiums to go down so I am now getting $90.08 more per paycheck. I had decided to put in $75 towards my Health Savings Account so that means I have a net gain of $15.08 on my zero based budget. I have decided to ignore that $15.08 and act like it is not even there. This way that money will go into my checking account buffer which is my personal overdraft protection.
