How I Save Money At CVS: 11 July 2010

Posted by LuLuGal | July 11, 2010.

Today I paid $0.00 out of pocket for $7.99 worth of items. I recently started wearing my colored contacts again even though I no longer need prescription lenses since I got LASIK. I will not be wearing them every day so I do not need to buy lens cleaner as frequently as I did and this is the second time that CVS has FREE lens cleaner so I decided to get one more bottle.

Transaction 1

Item: Complete lens cleaner

Price: $7.99

CVS Extra Care Bucks earned: $7.99 making this item FREE

Tracking My Finances In 2010: July Week 2

Posted by LuLuGal | July 9, 2010.

I have decided to post my weekly spending for the previous week on Fridays so you know how my cash has been flowing for the week. Please note that I get paid on the last day of the month so my cash flow net effect will usually be negative until the last day of the month.

This does not mean that I am adding to my debt, it just means that the money coming in is less than the money going out because bills are due starting on the first but I don’t get paid until the last day.

Stupid Tax: $5.95

I never thought I would be saying this but I just got hit with a bank fee. I use ING as my main bank but since it is an online bank I have another bank (which shall not be named) for times when I need to deposit a check or get quarters or something like that.

I utilize the online banking system and since I never keep more than $20 in there (it does not bear interest) I glance at the statements but do not pay attention to them.

My Top Five Favorite Things In Pictures

I saw this post at You Have More Than You Think and decided to do a similar one.

I am always trying to find ways to save money or to make more money and I talk about being frugal.

This does not mean that I do not spend money and in fact here is a list of a few things that I am glad I spent the extra money on.

My Electric Toothbrush: I got this as a Christmas present and recently had to buy new heads for the brush.

The Personal Finance Learning Curve (Guest Post)

Posted by LuLuGal | June 28, 2010.

Learning the basics of personal finance is often saved until our first brush with student debt. In the present economic environment though, this can be a difficult lesson, with very little room for error. As the student lifestyle can be an expensive one, this shortage of jobs can make paying off our student debt a daunting prospect. So, the personal finance learning curve needs to be a steep one.
