Line Dried Clothes To Save Money
It is very hot right now and this means that line drying is in full swing again. I live in an apartment where I do not have a balcony so I bought a drying rack and set it up in the spare bedroom.
The room is well ventilated and I just open the window to let fresh air and some sunlight in. The clothes usually dry in a couple of hours but since I am only doing laundry about every three days I just leave the clothes on the rack until I am ready to get the next load.
Tracking My Finances In 2010: June Week 2
I have decided to post my weekly spending for the previous week on Fridays so you know how my cash has been flowing for the week. Please note that I get paid on the last day of the month so my cash flow net effect will usually be negative until the last day of the month.
This does not mean that I am adding to my debt, it just means that the money coming in is less than the money going out because bills are due starting on the first but I don’t get paid until the last day.
Join PineCone Research
One of the ways to save money that I talk about is actually a way to make more money. PineCone Research is looking for new members to take surveys and test products and earn money.
All you have to do is sign up and they will send you short surveys to fill out and then you can earn cash for your efforts. They pay by check but the surveys take about 5 to 10 minutes and are very simple to fill out. Only one person per household may register as they track an address as one entry. So if there are multiple people in your household only ONE person may register or all other accounts with that address will be voided.
How I Use My Snowflake Account
I have mentioned before that I use a zero based budget but I also have a snowflaking habit. Snowflaking refers to putting aside small amounts of money which later go reducing debt or building up savings. I currently have my budget set up so that every month I transfer $25 from my ING Electric checking account to a saving sub account called Snowflake. This account also receives money from Paypal when someone pays for advertising on the blog.
PF Blogs.com Is Down?
Help me out fellow PF bloggers and readers……Pfblogs.com is down (and has been for a few days, although I just really noticed this morning). It was my source for a lot of blogs as I could subscribe to their feed instead of having a million different feeds.
Does anyone else know of an aggregator for personal finance blogs?

How to Save Money On The Big Items (Guest Post)
Big expenses come up every few years. Most of us consider these expenses unexpected mainly because we have not planned for them. The cost of a new refrigerator, a new motor or a new car can topple even the best planned budget. The number one way to save money on these big items (and salvage that budget) is to plan ahead.
Step One: Figure up the cost of the new item if you had to purchase it today – use monthly payments as your basis. Start setting aside the payment each month now so that when the need comes up you will have a lump sum to work with for your purchase.
