Build Credit History With The Public Savings Bank Secured Visa (Guest Post)

Posted by LuLuGal | June 22, 2010 .

For individuals with no credit or those who have experienced a negative credit event like divorce or foreclosure, establishing credit history can be a real challenge. Without proper credit, everything from a car loan to an apartment to a cell phone contract can be denied – and sometimes, even a job.
When faced with problem credit, many people rely on prepaid cards to manage their daily expenses. However, prepaid cards simply provide access to one’s own money, not credit from a lender. These cards do not report to credit bureaus and do not help re-establish credit history. People need to demonstrate on-time monthly payments on a credit card in order to rebuild that important credit history.

Imagine that this month you send in your rent check or mortgage payment and the check bounces. You’re shocked because you know that the money is in your account and you haven’t made any major purchases in the past few weeks. When you look at your account, you see that it’s been completely wiped out and that the charges made have not been made by you.

Monthly Financial Update: March 2010

Posted by LuLuGal | April 1, 2010 .

Whew it is time to look at one full month of finances and see how I came out in the end. I was in the black again for the month even after making a few larger than normal debt snowflake payments and a bit of overspending. I came out at $139.53 in the black after getting my paycheck and buying some more groceries in a last minute rush late in the evening.

Tracking My Finances In 2010: March Week 4

Posted by LuLuGal | March 26, 2010 .

I have decided to post my weekly spending for the previous week on Fridays so you know how my cash has been flowing for the week. Please note that I get paid on the last day of the month so my cash flow net effect will usually be negative until the last day of the month.

This does not mean that I am adding to my debt, it just means that the money coming in is less than the money going out because bills are due starting on the first but I don’t get paid until the last day.

Tracking My Finances In 2009: October Recap

Posted by LuLuGal | October 31, 2009 .

I came in under budget for October by just barely $43.27. Ouch!!! But it could be $1 and I would be happy just knowing that I am in the black for one more month and making progress on reducing debts.

I went way over budget in the food category because I sort of lost my mind and ate a lot of Taco Bell. I know this is not an excuse but I was sick a lot and just felt too lazy to cook so I ended up running to T.B. to get things to eat during the week.
