Tracking My Finances In 2011: March Week 4
I have decided to post my weekly spending for the previous week on Fridays so you know how my cash has been flowing for the week. Please note that I get paid on the last day of the month so my cash flow net effect will usually be negative until the last day of the month.
This does not mean that I am adding to my debt, it just means that the money coming in is less than the money going out because bills are due starting on the first but I don’t get paid until the last day.
Medical Emergency: Fibroids Are Back
About two years ago I broke the news to my readers that I had fibroids and I had to have surgery. I spent a great two years without any problems and then in December 2010 I started to get hit with the medical madness again.
I went to the doctor who referred me back to the specialist who took care of me the last time and in February, after all the tests and scans he found out that I had new fibroids that grew again. I wanted to deal with the problem as quickly as possible so I got scheduled for surgery in April to remove those pesky fibroids.
I (Foul Language) HATE The Insurance Company
Every time I think I am completely through with the insurance company they decide to throw me a nice little curveball. I have gone through a heap of rigmaroles with money for hospital bills from my surgery and then ONE YEAR LATER they send me a statement of overpayment.
I got a letter in the mail saying that the insurance was reviewing their records for surgery that I had ONE YEAR AGO and they found that they had overpaid the hospital to the tune of over $900.
Yes, seriously $900 (it is more than $900 but I thought I would just round it off).
Update on Mother’s Bills
This never ending saga with the insurance company is driving me crazy. They have not paid ANY of the bills for the hospital visits from FOUR months ago.
Now the hospital is sending ME bills of over $20K apiece as if I can afford to pay that. Well they are on mother’s name…but still, I am the one opening them up every few days.
Update On Mother…Blood Transfusion
Mother is back in the hospital due to complications. She needs to get a blood transfusion before she can get the next set of chemo drugs.
I am getting depressed.
Mother In The Hospital: June 25
So by now I have let it be known that my mother has cancer. She was admitted to the hospital on June 23 and is having tests done. She is on an IV because she was so dehydrated.
I spent Monday and Tuesday at the hospital and she told me to stay home today and get some rest. I gave her a cellphone to call me and I have her room number so I can always get to her.
This morning when I spoke to her she said that she had some more Xrays done (this makes the third set) and she is having an endoscopy done today as well.
Tracking My Finances In June: Day 23
Welcome to How I Save Money and tracking of income and expenses for the month.
Income for the month to date: $34.51
Expenses for the month to date: $1962.03
Net effect: -$1927.52
So far I have been spending money on gas and food since my mother has come up to see the doctor. I was also running the air conditioning while she was here so I think that will bring up the electric bill a little bit. I am spending the rest of the week with Honey because he lives about 30 minutes from the hospital as opposed to me living 1 hour away.
Saved $4 on Parking At the Hospital
So I got my mother to the hospital today for the initial checkup and they decided to admit her because she was dehydrated. The parking for the entire day was $4 and I was going to pay this when I ended up talking to the valet.
He sympathised with me and gave me a free pass for the day so I ended up saving the $4 on parking today.
