Huge Debts, Paid Off Fast

The word according to Get Rich Slowly

In Huge Debts, Paid Off Fast Pulliam Weston writes about people who have overcome staggering debt through hard work and determination.

How did they do it? Among other things:

  • They made debt payoff a priority, although most continued to save for retirement as well.
  • They kept their basic living expenses as low as possible.
  • They looked for creative ways to speed up their debt repayment, and some took extra work. ([One person], for example, volunteered for overtime and took a second job. [Another woman], a lawyer, moonlighted as a package loader on a FedEx loading dock.)

Follow up exam

Posted by LuLuGal | November 13, 2006 .

Okay folks I had to go BACK to the optometrist today because my contacts felt very dry and my vision was blurred. By the time 2 o’clock rolled around I felt like there was sand in my eyes. My contacts were sticking to my eyeballs and I could feel the edges of the lenses scraping against my eyelids.

When I explained how I felt the doctor told me that the contacts they had given me were not for people with dry eyes! I said to myself…..then WHY did you give them to me when I specifically said that I had a problem with the contacts drying out my eyes.

French dogs

The burning question of today is:

Do dogs in France bark in french?

Free Samples

Posted by LuLuGal | November 12, 2006 .

I love getting free samples of things. You may say that the 1 oz. toothpaste sample cannot compare to the 7 oz. tube you purchase at the supermarket…and I would say you are right. But then you need to look at the number of times you can get the 1 oz. samples and save yourself from buying that large 7 oz. tube.

The other positive side to the sample size is that you can easily take it with you when you travel. The small containers fit so neatly into your bag and are just the right size for overnight trips when you may not get toothpaste!

Eye check

I got my eyes checked today and (sob) my eyes have gotten worse. It is not much of a difference but it is still annoying. This means that not only did I have to spend money for an exam I also have to shell out more money for new contacts and or glasses.

I want to go home

Posted by LuLuGal | November 9, 2006 .

It is getting colder and colder and all I can think of is lying on the beach or walking on the warm sand.

I want some real (read:caribbean) fruit cake and eggnogg.

Of course since the tickets home now cost around $600.00 I would not be saving any money (which is the whole point of this).

Our secretary just bought me some coffee from starbucks (hey I am not about to dish out $3.00 for one cup of coffee…even though it tastes heavenly).

Headache

I have a terrible headache today and cannot stand to look at the computer screen. I cannot find my ibuprofen so I guess I willjust have to suffer for now…..or hurry up and get my eyes checked!

Shiny Teeth

Posted by LuLuGal | November 7, 2006 .

I got my teeth cleaned today for free at the school’s dental clinic. I also got them polished and they feel so smooth and they are so shiny……or maybe it is all in my head. In any case I:

  1. Don’t have cavities! Hurray!!!!
  2. Got complimented by the dentists on my good oral health.
  3. Got a free toothbrush.
  4. Got free dental floss and a handheld flosser!
  5. Got sealants put in
  6. Got free toothpaste.

What does this have to do with saving money you ask? Well I got all this free stuff that I would have had to spend money on….so there!
