How to Store Important Documents
I read a post some time ago about keeping your important documents safe. I have a number of documents that I consider to be important yet I do not think that I have stored them in a safe enough manner.
I keep my documents in a plastic filing box that I got at WalMart. Now while this is okay for protecting my important papers against dust and small amounts of water it really does not do the best job possible.
In order to really protect those important papers you have two main choices:
A safety deposit box
Carnival of Financial planning is up.
Visit the Carnival of Financial Planning July 26th edition over at the Skilled Investor. As usual there are lots of articles so I am sure you can find something that interests you. My article on The First Step to getting Rid of Debt is featured in the Debt Section.
My Disclosure Policy
I had this Disclosure Policy drawn up because I sometimes do sponsored posts (gotta make those bill payments!) on this site. The general policy is as follows:
This policy is valid from 25 July 2007

$25 Gift….How should I Spend it?
I recently received a $25 gift certificate to Amazon for taking part in a contest. Hurray for me!!!! Now I have no idea what to spend it on. I really LOVE this Vanilla Musk perfume by Coty and I have not bought any in a while. That would be my splurge and my late birthday gift to myself.
The other option is to get something practical from the site. I just found where I could get six tubes of toothpaste for the money. While this would be very useful and would mean that I do not have to buy toothpaste again for the next gazillion years I wonder if I am taking the frugal thing a bit too far.
Step Three to getting Rid of Debt
My third step to getting rid of my debt was to Make a Budget. Now I know that when most people see the word Budget they collapse on the floor, trembling and mumbling incoherently. This should not be the case because Budgets are your Friends. Repeat after me. Budgets are your Friend. Okay, let’s get serious again.
I think that one of the most important things for me was to create a written budget. The next important thing was to make sure I could stick to the budget. If I went over in one category once then I would note it and then see what happened the following month. If I was able to stick with the budget the next time then I would forgive the slip up last time.

Trains, Planes and Automobiles
This is a Geek Train sent to me by Shawn. Now I keep saying over and over that I do not know any of the technical stuff…so WHY Shawn included me on the Geek Train is beyond me. I guess he ate too much leftover spaghetti.
Or maybe he knows that I cannot resist these things and my OCD will drive me to think: “Must complete MEME. Must take part in this train”. Oh Shawn!

I am back from spending two weeks out of town with Honey. I am not working right now so we thought it would be a good idea for me to spend some time in his apartment. That way I could shut down everything here and save a little on the general electricity that I would be using on a daily basis. I left my computer at home so I just got to update all of my figures in Money as I got back today.
