Tracking my Finances in January: Day 30

January 31st, 2008 by LuLuGal

Welcome to my daily tracking of income and expenses for the month.

Penny.GIF

Income for the month to date: $395.58

Expenses for the month to date: $2699.12

Net effect: -$2303.54

It looks really bad because I have not gotten paid as yet but luckily I did not have to dip into the savings to cover the monthly expenses.

I will be starting the next month on a positive flow because we will get paid then so things will look a lot nicer on the first few days.

Lending Club and Sign up issues

January 30th, 2008 by LuLuGal

I am a lender on Prosper and I kept hearing about Lending Club so I decided to try that out too.

Lender Sign up is Easy

It was easy enough to join as a lender until I saw what they did to verify the account. Normally, when you have to verify an account online the place you are trying to verify sends a small deposit to your account.

Not Lending Club!!!

They actually withdrew a small amount from my account.

What?

This amount was then kept in my balance as part of the funds I would have available to lend in the future.

What’s in YOUR wallet?

January 28th, 2008 by LuLuGal

What’s in your wallet right now? I am not asking just to be nosy and find out what you are lugging around.

I want to know if YOU know what is in your wallet right now.

Without looking.

And without guessing, hemming and hawing and changing your mind three or four times.

I can tell you exactly what is my wallet now (and the next day, and the day after that).

What is In My Wallet

ChaseFreedom1In my wallet I have my Chase credit card. This is the only credit card that I carry around because it has the cash back that I a m trying to build up so I can cash in.

Ashop Commerce

January 28th, 2008 by LuLuGal

A friend of mine was recently looking at starting an online business. He asked me about what type of software I could recommend for his online business in terms of shopping cart software or general ecommerce software.

Now I am not really familiar with these things but I guess he reads this blog and thinks that I know a lot. I recommended Ashop Commerce because it is one of the leading providers of shopping cart software.

LASIK Eye Surgery - My Experiences - Day 12

January 24th, 2008 by LuLuGal

Routines

Today it is now twelve days after I had the LASIK surgery. Today I have to go back to Dr. Boothe’s office for a follow up exam. I still have not washed my entire face, instead I have been using moistened cotton pads to clean around my eye area.

I have been faithfully using my artificial tears every 30 minutes like the doctor said because my eyes do feel dry sometimes. I am not sure if this is because my eyes are really that dry or if it is because I am experiencing the “lip balm effect“. The lip balm effect is where yo become so accustomed to the extra moisture provided by using a lip balm that you feel that your lips are parched when you do not use the lip balm.

Mapgirl has her LASIK and talks about my LASIK

January 23rd, 2008 by LuLuGal

I have been writing about my experiences with LASIK over a number of days now. Mapgirl had her experience with LASIK and she referenced my experiences because they were slightly different.

Well that and I kept hounding her blog ever since I found out she was having the surgery.

I hope that she continues to chronicle the journey to great eyesight so that we can compare notes and be a source of information and inspiration for all the other personal finance bloggers out there who want to know about the surgery but are afraid to get it done.
