Welcome to How I Save Money and tracking of income and expenses for the month.

Income for the month to date: $got paid today AND got a bonus for training
Expenses for the month to date: $paid a few more bills and bought some pizza!
Net effect: $490.21
This month I got paid a little extra for attending some training over the summer. I am soooo happy that I got that money because I did go over the budget for some areas due to mother being sick.

Welcome to How I Save Money. I am on a quest to see how much stuff I can get from CVS without spending any extra money out of my pocket.
Today I forgot to use my ECB gift card and I ended up spending money out of pocket. I got an item that cost $19.99 and paid $1.65 out of pocket.
Transaction 1
Item: One Touch Ultra Mini
Price: $19.99
CVS Extra Care Bucks earned:$0.00
Used $20.00 off coupon so total was $1.65 after tax.
Total out of pocket today: $1.65

I got LASIK last year and I was talking to a coworker about it. Well she wanted to do it and was energized by my experiences and she decided to get it too. I guess the doctor should give me a finder’s fee for getting him a new client.
She had her surgery done a week ago and she is already happy with the results. Her eyes were -2.75 which is not as bad as mine were at -7.50 but she felt like she was blind without her contacts.

Welcome to How I Save Money. I have been seeing a lot of talk about Cuil (pronounced like cool….go figure) and how it is set to rival Google. Cuil is a new search engine that is set up to provide a better search experience than Google to give users more alternatives.
I have not bought stock in the company but we just need to wait and see what is happening with it. I did a search for my name and I did not even rank as number one for that (it is not a common name).

I have been thinking about my life a bit more deeply these days since I am not working right now. Many of the positions that I have seen are now requiring some sort of extra certification that I do not have. I have a business degree with a focus on Information Systems but no experience in my field.
I have experience in other fields like retail, banking and of course education but zilch when it comes to formal IT experience. This has been a big barrier to me lately and I am wondering if I should go ahead and try to scrape together the money to get my Cisco certification so I can get a leg up on the competition.

I received an email from Mint during the week that made me think about the way I am handling my money now. The email contained the Three Principles of Personal Finance that we should all follow if we are looking at ways to save money and manage our finances better.
The Three Principles of Personal Finance are:
- Spend less than you earn.
- Make the money you have work for you.
- Be prepared for the unexpected.
