It is Halloween Time Again

Posted by LuLuGal | October 30, 2008 .

It is Halloween time again and my coworkers were asking me what kinds of halloween costumes I had in mind for tomorrow. Apparently we were supposed to dress up (and WHERE is the memo?) for Halloween so that our students can have something to look forward to.

Um really?

I have never ‘dressed up’ for Halloween before. The closest I came to was putting on a Santa Claus hat and wearing a red sweatsuit for a party. I was ’sexy Santa’. I had no idea we were supposed to be wearing costumes and it really is too late now for me to go scrounge anything up that would make sense.

Zero!

Posted by LuLuGal | October 30, 2008 .

I am proud to say that I FINALLY have my budget set to zero. I set up my Google documents budget to take account of all my expenses and then subtracted that from my salary.

At first I put in the minimum on every account to see what the difference would be. I ended up having some money left over if I put down the minimum on each account so I put in some estimated figures for things like:

  • Food
  • Gas
  • Electricity

based on the amounts I have spent over the last few months.

Tracking My Finances in October: Day 27

Posted by LuLuGal | October 29, 2008 .

Welcome to How I Save Money and tracking of income and expenses for the month.

Penny.GIF

Income for the month to date: $302.42

Expenses for the month to date: $2557.86

Net effect: -$2255.44

We get paid on Friday so I am eagerly looking forward to this date.  So far I am just barely under the budget this month and I have no idea what happened.

I guess I made some extra payments and spent all of the fun money so I am quite close to zero.

Transaction 1

Item: Soy Joy bars (4 for $4)

Price: $4.00

CVS Extra Care Bucks earned: $4.00 (making this FREE)

Revising My Budget

Posted by LuLuGal | October 28, 2008 .

I keep my budget in a spreadsheet that is stored on Google Docs so that I have easy access to it when I am online.

Every day I enter my receipts for the day so that I can keep track of where my money goes. I generally don’t use cash (well there is the RARE occasion when something happens at work….or I find money on the street) so I always have a receipt from a credit card that I can enter on my spreadsheet.
