How I Save Money at CVS: August 1

Posted by LuLuGal | August 3, 2008 .

Welcome to How I Save Money. I am on a quest to see how much stuff I can get from CVS without spending any extra money out of my pocket. This August you can get a free gift on your first purchase so I was a bit excited to see what I would get.

Transaction 1

Item:Clairol hair color

Price:$5.99

CVS Extra Care Bucks earned:$1.00

Coupon used: BOGO

Item: Children’s advil

Price:$5.79

CVS Extra Care Bucks earned:$5.79

Coupon used:none

After this I got a coupon for a free CVS mouthwash as my free gift but I could only get the small bottle for free.

Transaction 2

Item: CVS mouthwash

Price:2.39

CVS Extra Care Bucks earned:$0.00

Coupon used:$2.39

Total out of pocket today: $0

Total CVS Extra Care Bucks earned today: $6.49

Total out of pocket to date: $95.34

Total CVS Extra Care Bucks earned to date: $163.31

CVS Extra Care Bucks Used to date: $117.07

CVS Extra Care Bucks Balance to date: $46.24

I am mad at myself for using the first gift card instead of using the $10 ECB coupon that I had. I now have three separate ECB papers and one gift card to juggle.

Join me next week as I look for more ways to save money as I visit CVS.

Way to go on your savings! We also got the free coupon for CVS mouthwash. I actually just posted this morning on my site how we made money last week at Rite Aid and CVS. Do you shop at Rite Aid or Walgreens at all?

    @ Passive:
There is no Walgreens or RiteAid where I live. *sad*

That’s too bad… CVS is great, but RiteAid and Walgreens both have fabulous rebate programs!
