Redeeming Discover Cash Back Rewards Just Got Better
Discover card is pleased to announce that they have improved the cash back rewards program and made it a little easier and more fun to use. Discover is a great credit card to have as it offers 3% cash back and you get rotating rewards that offer up to 5% cash back every quarter. I use this card for most of my purchases and then use it strictly for gas during the summer as the rewards on gas are the highest at that time.

Build Credit History With The Public Savings Bank Secured Visa (Guest Post)
For individuals with no credit or those who have experienced a negative credit event like divorce or foreclosure, establishing credit history can be a real challenge. Without proper credit, everything from a car loan to an apartment to a cell phone contract can be denied – and sometimes, even a job.
When faced with problem credit, many people rely on prepaid cards to manage their daily expenses. However, prepaid cards simply provide access to one’s own money, not credit from a lender. These cards do not report to credit bureaus and do not help re-establish credit history. People need to demonstrate on-time monthly payments on a credit card in order to rebuild that important credit history.
Another Reason Why I Use Credit Cards For EVERYTHING
I recently received a bill in the mail for something I already paid. My first thought was to go to my monthly receipt envelope to find the receipt, which I did while calling up the organization to tell them I had already paid. For some strange reason I could not find the envelope of receipts for that bill but then decided to check my credit card statement online (which really should have been step one) to search for that bill.
Credit Card Debt Free!!! (sort of)
I am officially credit card debt free as I sent off a humongous payment to the very last card that I carried a balance on. It feels great to be free of that debt and the only thing I have left to worry about is the car loan.
I Lost A Credit Card
I did not actually misplace the card..it was closed due to inactivity. I received a letter in the mail telling me that one of the credit cards that I own was closed because I had not used it in a long time. It was not one of my older cards, nor was it a card with a high limit so I am not too upset at losing it. I had been thinking about reducing the number of cards that I have and just keeping the three oldest ones which also have the highest limits and best rewards.
6 New Credit Card Rules
So today February 22, 2010 the new rules for credit cards went into effect. What does this mean for you? Well in general the new rules help to protect customers better and should help you to pay down your debts even faster.
1. No New Rates On Old Debts
The credit card companies cannot raise the interest rates on existing debts that you racked up before the new rules pass. This means that your rate will stay the same or go down if you get lucky, as long as you pay on time. The exception to this rule is that if your payment is more than 60 days late they CAN raise the rate.
Wisdom Tooth Is Causing Me Financial Pain
I had a Wisdom tooth taken out in December and according to what I was told by the billing specialist I put the balance on the credit card that I used when I got LASIK a couple of years ago.
I was lucky to get 0% financing on that card and planned to pay it off well before the deal expired. I went ahead and tweaked my Zero Based Budget to fit the payments in and I was on a roll….until I received a bill from the dental office for an extra $260.50. This is the balance that the dental insurance has decided it will not cover off the $450 that was charged for my anesthesia.
Took Out A Wisdom Tooth
I extracted a wisdom tooth on Friday 18 December and decided to write about it since it put me out of commission for a few days. The first thing that I thought was significant was the fact that I could not eat past midnight the night before the surgery because I was going to be put to sleep. The last time I had to be put to sleep for surgery I did not eat for 16 hours and I was a ravenous beast afterwards so I was interested to see how it would relate to this time.
