Line Dried Clothes To Save Money
It is very hot right now and this means that line drying is in full swing again. I live in an apartment where I do not have a balcony so I bought a drying rack and set it up in the spare bedroom.
The room is well ventilated and I just open the window to let fresh air and some sunlight in. The clothes usually dry in a couple of hours but since I am only doing laundry about every three days I just leave the clothes on the rack until I am ready to get the next load.
Cutting Down On My Electric Bill
My first electric bill for the year almost gave me a heart attack at $148.49 because the bill for the same time last year was $82.53. I know that last year I was using the space heater instead of the central heating because it did not make sense (and still does not) to heat unused rooms. I really went a bit wild last month with using the heat and need to seriously cut down on my electricity use because I have added to my debt with the dental bills.
Frugal Tips For Fighting The Flu (And Colds Too)
I had been fighting a cold for about a week and battling coworkers who keep claiming that I have H1N1 or Swine Flu as it is commonly known. I did some research on the flu vs. colds and since I did not have a fever and only had minor body aches on the first day, I concluded that I have a cold and not the flu.
Now I did not visit a doctor because I have had colds before and I figured that I could take care of it on my own. If I had gotten worse or
shown no improvement then I would have gone to the doctor. There are a few frugal tips I have followed that have helped me to fight this cold and I hope they help you too.
Reusable Toilet Wipes (Poopy Cloth Patrol)
I found this site called WallyPop that sells Resuable Family Toilet Wipes.
Yes.
Wipes.
For the family.
Now these wipes are simply cloths that you use instead of toilet paper, sort of like baby wipes. The main difference is that unlike baby wipes, these wipes are made of a washable material….sort of like cloth diapers.
You use the wipe and then toss it into some container and wash in the machine when you have a load (pardon the pun).
Dinero Saves Dinero: Less Television
Meow!
Hi everyone, this is Dinero and I am telling you about another way that I help Lulu save money. Remember I have helped her to save money on heat in Dinero Saves Dinero: Heaters in the past.
Since I have blessed Lulu with my presence she has been spending more time playing with me. This translates to less time spent watching television since I demand ask for about 30 minutes of her time every day when she gets home from work.
Frugal Frauds Revealed
I was recently accused of being a Frugal Fraud because of some of the things I do. A Frugal Fraud is someone who talks about ways to save money but then is not implementing those changes in his or her own life.
I noticed that a few other bloggers were also revealing the less than frugal things they did in their daily lives and this gave me the idea for a roundup.
Now we all talk about being frugal and finding ways to save money but as personal finance bloggers we are not the die hard frugalists who make their own soap and cut dryer sheets into 4 pieces to save money.
