The Story Of My Ring
Today’s post is not about personal finance but it is based on the writing prompt for the day from the National Blog Posting Month Blog. This blog is dedicated to providing a topic for bloggers to write about on a daily basis and I actually found it in a roundabout way from reading Single Ma’s blog post on the topic from November 1st.
The topic for today is “Tell us the story of a piece of jewelry you own. Where did it come from, and what does it mean to you?”
Happy Mother’s Day 2010
I just wanted to wish all mothers around the world a happy Mother’s Day. I lost my own mother almost two years ago to cancer and still miss her.
So if you have a mother to celebrate with this year go ahead and have a blast. Appreciate her for all she does!!!
Mother’s Funeral Is Today
The funeral for my mother will be held today in St. Lucia (my home). I am unable to attend because of visa extension restrictions (grrrrrrr!!!!) but my heart will be with my family at home.
My father will be reading a poem I emailed to him on my behalf and I think my brother is getting someone to film the ceremony so that I can get a copy.

My Mother Died (12-12-08)
Hi everyone,
I have some sad news to share right now. My mother died around 7:30pm on Friday December 12, 2008. I am pretty shaken up about it right now as you can guess…especially after all that we just went through.
I have some posts lined up that I prewrote so things should continue on the blog pretty much normally. I am looking for guest posts to fill in some slots so feel free to contact me using the contact page or email me directly if you would like to write here.
Update On Mother…Blood Transfusion
Mother is back in the hospital due to complications. She needs to get a blood transfusion before she can get the next set of chemo drugs.
I am getting depressed.
Tracking My Finances In June: Day 23
Welcome to How I Save Money and tracking of income and expenses for the month.
Income for the month to date: $34.51
Expenses for the month to date: $1962.03
Net effect: -$1927.52
So far I have been spending money on gas and food since my mother has come up to see the doctor. I was also running the air conditioning while she was here so I think that will bring up the electric bill a little bit. I am spending the rest of the week with Honey because he lives about 30 minutes from the hospital as opposed to me living 1 hour away.
Saved $4 on Parking At the Hospital
So I got my mother to the hospital today for the initial checkup and they decided to admit her because she was dehydrated. The parking for the entire day was $4 and I was going to pay this when I ended up talking to the valet.
He sympathised with me and gave me a free pass for the day so I ended up saving the $4 on parking today.
