Welcome to How I Save Money.

I took mother to the doctor and the building she was supposed to go into was closer to the valet parking than the self parking so I went there so she would have less walking to do.  Now when I saw my doctor for my fibroids I was given a voucher for the parking so I thought I would just ask the nurse for one this time.

I got my voucher and proudly handed over the voucher and my parking stub to the attendant who looked at me funny. She told me this voucher was no good. I responded that I had just gotten it that day from the nurse.

The attendant said the voucher was only good for emergency parking and self serve parking not valet…..and the valet cost $5.00!!!!!

I asked her if they took credit cards and she said no, while holding on tightly to my car keys. I asked for my ticket stub back and said I was going back to the 4th floor to get another voucher since I don’t carry cash, don’t carry checks and did not have a debit card with me and had no clue what my pin for the credit card was. (Did I mention that I hardly ever deal with cash? 🙂 )

I stepped out of the line and was heading back when a good samaritan in the line called me back and said she would pay for my parking since that had happened to her before. She explained that you have to tell the nurses if you are in valet  or regular parking since the vouchers are different and they just assume that you are parked in self serve. Oops.

So anyway the good samaritan saved me $5 by paying for my ticket and I learned that I have to be specific when I ask for a parking voucher.

I am so glad this lady paid for me…is this karma from the time I bough the guy lunch the last time I went to the hospital? He said he was hungry and had just gotten out of rehab so I got him some stuff from McDonalds. It was no biggie and he ate it and the world was a little better for him that day.
