Welcome to Money Mondays!

(If you are not reading this post at www.howisavemoney.net or in your feed reader, it may have been stolen from my site.)

I used to post my financial inflows and outflows on Fridays in the past but I decided to move this to Mondays instead. I normally go grocery shopping on Sundays after church. I will now post the last week’s worth of financial inflows and outflows on Monday so that I can include the weekend spending as well.

This week my financial outflows were:

$77.89 on a combination of food and household items. It is the beginning of the month so much of this was to replenish items that were low or out of stock at home.

The electric bill came in at $56.86 and I paid this with the Citi Double cash card so I will earn 2% of that bill in cash back. This comes to a little over $1 just for paying my electric bill and was a good decision because there is no fee for using a card to pay. As usual I will have the credit card paid off before the due date so I avoid paying interest and the $1 will be added to any other cash back that I earn from other bills.

I spent $2.15 on lunch with a friend. We hung out and had a good chat about life in general so it was a very small price to pay for a good time.

I spent $147.83 on five pairs of jeans. Now before everyone goes crying about that not being frugal or saving money, take a minute to think about it. I got FIVE pairs and they were all on sale. The cheapest was $19.99 and the most expensive was $34.99 so it averaged to about $30 per pair which is not bad. I wear jeans almost every day of the week. In fact the only time I don’t wear jeans is on the days when I teach, since I try to look a little nicer. Usually this ends up being two days a week for ‘nice’ clothes and 3 days for jeans, plus hanging out on the weekends. Plus, the last time I bought jeans was four years ago and they all died on me so I wanted to get a new set. My jeans have been slowly getting holes in inappropriate places over the last few months and they are no longer wearable.

I got various washes and lengths so I have a variety of looks especially for the summer when I wear jeans ALL the time since I teach online only during summer!
