When most people think of the word budget they immediately think of deprivation and having no fun. They look at a budget as a restriction on their current life, instead of a plan for spending that allows you to have better life in the future.
I love budgeting because it allows me to allocate money to various wants and needs and still lets me have fun because I know that I can cover my fun purchases.
Here is a list of 5 ways that you can spoil yourself while keeping your budget in check.
1. Sleep In. At least five days a week we get up early and begin the rush to get ready for work. For those of us who have the luxury of a weekend off, why not take one day and sleep in for a little bit.
2. Home Spa. You do not need to go an expensive spa to get some rest and relaxation after a hard day at work. Take a look around your home and I am sure that you can find a few things to give yourself some pampering right in your closets. Break out that bubble bath that you got as a Christmas gift and light up those candles that your coworker gave you.
3. Me time. You might be the person who is always doing for everyone else. Why not take some time to pamper yourself? Get yourself away from the computer and the telephone and all the other demands in your life. Take some time to reflect on why YOU are special to you and relax your mind.
4. Be the guest. You have been saving those nice towels and sheets for when you have guests and they are just languishing in the linen closet. Take some time out to make your bed once in a while with those nice sheets and use that fancy soap for yourself. You will feel better just from using something that you do not normally use on a regular basis.
5. Get flowers. You can buy a low priced bouquet at a store like Walmart and instantly glam up your home. You don’t have to spend a lot to get a great look and flowers give you a great emotional boost from just looking at them.
Those are five simple ways that you can spoil yourself without breaking your budget so try one today.
Great suggestions. Going further into the home spa, I would say that giving each other messages is also a great way to save some money instead of spending over $100 on a couple message. Another great way is to cook a nice dinner for yourself instead of going to a fancy restaurant.
Great ideas! Another thing you can treat yourself out to is a nice picnic or a stroll through the park after work to get your mind off of things. It really helps to just get a little fresh air.
You can invite your girlfriends for a home spa day. There’s nothing more fun and relaxing than kicking back with your friends, and recreating a spa atmosphere together. Consider asking friends to bring their favorite candles, calming CDs, homemade spa recipes or a skincare product from their own collection they wouldn’t mind sharing. A big plus: Your spa session can last as long as you like and you get to gossip, without interruption or eavesdroppers! You can also make it a monthly treat and rotate houses.
I really enjoying budgeting as it allows me to properly mange my money and what I spend it on each week. I agree with spoiling yourself once in awhile as it acts as a motivation for you to keep up the good work maintaining the budget.
Cash back is another way to endulge in yourself. You should always get cash back for purchases you NEED so you can use that money to spend on things you Want.
Check my blog out, I’ll show you how..
Another great way is to save money or get cash back on the things you Need so you have extra money for the things you Want. A great way to do this is to use a site like ebates.com to get cash back on all online purchases.
In my household we save money in any way that we can. In fact, for the last 8 months we have completely done away with our cable television bill; we watch all of the TV shows that we want online.
We have found hundreds of sites that offer this like http://Veoh.com
Love this post… we all like to spoil oursleves from time to time, so it is nice to know that it CAN be done on a budget.
Those are some very nice ideas. I’d also like to add treating yourself to some special food once in a while with money saved over if you didn’t go out with friends too much that month. 🙂
Till then,
Jean
Taking the stress out of saving the pennies cant be a bad thing! I treat myself by using my Tesco Clubcard Points to buy a yearly subscription to my favourite magazine. What a treat when it is delivered every month, and it costs loads less then if you bought it every month from the shop.
I celebrate my birthday Sunday. Guess what! I am going to use your ideas to celebrate my “me time” and between that and what the children have planned, I should have a more than a special day. Thanks for the excellent ideas.
A $5 bottle of wine and a book from the library is my idea of a budget-friendly, perfect evening.
Sounds like you have an excellent way to relax and it suits your needs. I always say personal finance is personal and what works for one person may not be what works for someone else, so try new things.
These are great ideas for spoiling yourself on a budget. It is important to treat yourself once in a while to keep your spirits up. When you are on a strict budget, you’ll find you don’t need lavish expenses to feel spoiled. It’s when you have less extra money that you truly appreciate the little things.
Your suggestions over here are great! I say there are three ways to spoil ourselves: spending time as “being our own guest” as you’ve said, spending time with our partner, and spending time with our group of friends. And not only we save some money, but also our spirits and self-esteem get a boost. Thus we’ll have more energy and we’ll be more efficient in our doings.
